Bred by Vicky Knight at EMR, this high yielding reliable variety crops one week ahead of Glen Ample. Malling Minerva is spine-free with an easily managed compact plant habit and produces erect new canes in the centre of the row. The berries are well presented to the pickers on medium length, ascending laterals, and have an even and attractive conical shape. The fruit is firm with a good colour, flavour and shelf life with medium to large berries. Disease resistance is excellent but the variety is susceptible to Raspberry Root Rot. Yields in excess of 3.7kg per stool were recorded in trials at JHI in 2010.
