Cupid is one of the most interesting varieties to emerge from East Malling Research in that it is the only selection to carry commercially useful levels of resistance to four major diseases, namely Verticillium Wilt, Crown Rot, Black Spot and Powdery Mildew.
This variety crops at the same time as Florence and produces a high yield of attractive, uniform, conic berries with good skin strength and shelf life.
The fruit remains firm with no finger bruising even under the hottest conditions. Cupid is a vigorous variety and produces a good leaf canopy that is effective in protecting the fruit from adverse weather. This variety should be tried where disease problems normally limit yield.
