Big Ben, Blackcurrant

Big Ben produces enormous blackcurrants that can be up to three times the size of other varieties. The large, glossy, strong-skinned fruits have a lovely sweet flavour and weigh on average 2.9g each.

Very high yielding and self fertile with resistance to mildew and leaf spot. It's not surprising that this early season variety has won an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Unlike most blackcurrants which were bred for the juice industry, Big Ben was bred for the fruit to eat fresh off the plant.
